(Please scroll down for the English version)

The warmth of the ice-skating rink

“You should lace up your skating shoes first.”

”Let me hold you to help you exercise.”

”Don’t be afraid of falling down. It’s by falling that we learnt how to skate!.”

……

I was really delighted to see our young bakers’ behavior on the ice-skating rink and to hear their conversations. When they first arrived in Shanghai, they were very shy and timid. However, now they have become bold, strong and optimistic. They have learned how to help each other and have team work consciousness. When some students encounter difficulties, the rest will help them and care for them.

“Zheng Laoshi (Teacher Zheng), when will our boss come here?” A young baker asked me as he was relaxing. In fact, the boss he was talking about is Chung To, the founder of Chi Heng Foundation. When I asked them why they call him “boss”, they told me with one voice that it feels warmer in this way. It dawned on me that to our young bakers, Mr.To is like their relative. It is because of Mr.To’s help that our young bakers can study and work in Shanghai without worries. It is also because of the existence of Shanghai Young Bakers that they can have a more colorful youth.

The flashes across the ice were as dazzling as the stars in the sky, just like all the young bakers are like different stars. They can shine at SYB, where they enjoy showing their radiance.

At noon, we had dinner together with Chung To who was surrounded by our young bakers. They discussed topics that they thought were interesting with Mr. To and shared their growth and progress in Shanghai, like they would share their life at SYB with their family members.

However, the time spent together is always too short, and we had to say goodbye to Mr.To. Our young bakers came to hug Chung To, which showed their feelings completely.

Although it was a little bit cold at the ice-skating rink, the warmth was all around in everyone’s heart.
