Enjoy new skills this summer with SYB

The year 2020 has not been too kind for many people. Particularly, parents are quite affected, with school suspended and young children have to be looked after and/or home schooled. As summer is approaching, the uncommon semester is soon to end before it properly starts. We here at SYB understand the situation perfectly, as there are three moms working here, all with young kids at home since January, balancing the life of work and family with their great capacities. A huge round of applaud to all parents reading this post! You have achieved something more than great this year.
Now, dear home-schooling parents, if you have been tired with connecting to an online class session or bored with poking your finger or mouse on the screen, why not come to our upcoming summer activities with your kids, to have a different type of fun schooling with French bakery and pastry?
For parents with younger children aged between six and ten, we offer two-and-a-half-hour sessions of dough shaping and pastry decoration. Children would be able to use their hands and creativity to start exploring the world of bakery, with products of their making by the end of a session. These are also good opportunities for you and your kids to spend time together in a charity setting that is different from the previous everyday home schooling. It would allow children to start getting familiar with values of solidarity and sharing, learning about how their small actions can do great good for others.

If you want a private session with only your children and friends, no problem! You may, for example, come to study the recipes you always want to learn and incorporate it with a friend gathering or birthday celebration for your children. Check out our regular public class schedule for some inspiration, and just contact us with your idea. We would be happy to help you organize a special class.

In addition, this year SYB offers also four sessions of three-day summer camp. For children from 10 years old and above, they would be able to learn with our certified teachers in the sessions about authentic French bakery and pastry recipes and techniques. The contents are designed to be so that by the end of the summer camp, the children would know how to make the basics for a dinner. Not just a simple switch from your routine home schooling, such interesting challenge will help them cultivate skills useful for their bright future. Due to the enthusiasm of many parents, we have sold out our spots this year. We would like to say a big ‘THANK YOU’ to these parents. Please let us know if you wanted to join but have missed the opportunities, so that we can open new session as soon as possible to meet your schedule.

With every session you and your kids join, you would be directly supporting our charity programme. As a charity programme, we SYB gives disadvantaged young people (aged 17 to 23) from different parts of China one-year free training in French bakery and pastry, to empower them become professional bakers or pastry chefs and lead a decent life after graduation.
While SYB has been run for 11 years, on the scale of human life span, we are also still a child. This year, with the unpredictable situation, we and our students are facing unprecedented challenges. Your support in this time period will be even more valuable and meaningful. You will be able to help us manoeuvre through the difficulties and continue to grow as a charity programme.
For now, we wish you and your family safe and well, and have a great time together. Looking forward to seeing you in our activities to enjoy together the fun of bakery and charity!
