企业与公益的协奏曲

当我们与毕业生们聊起他们在海上青焙坊度过的时光时,大多数人的第一印象总是与声音有关:面团敲打着搅拌机的声音、法棍间清脆的声音,而烤箱的滴滴声则预示着一天的工作又结束了,该是休息的时候了。

所以,当我们的烘焙师们被“音乐”主题激发了灵感、参加了中国进口食品展,就并不让人感到奇怪了。他们为创作海上青焙坊的交响乐团工作了整整三天,乐团由鼓、竖琴、大提琴等乐器组成……在场的参观者都为我们学生的作品啧啧称奇了。

久牵志愿者服务社的小音乐家们来到我们的烘焙中心时,他们立刻被这些乐器吸引了。久牵是一个公益组织,他们利用音乐,特别是唱歌,来提高农民工子女的生活质量。11月24日,20名来自久牵的小朋友和20名久牵的赞助商——葛兰素史克公司的职员参加了海上青焙坊的西点公开课。每一名职员与孩子配对,共同度过了充满乐趣的一天!对于葛兰素史克来说,这是一次有意义的团建活动,对于久牵的孩子们来说,这是一次难忘的外出游玩,而对于我们而言,则是集资的一种形式。我们期待着与更多公益组织和具有社会责任感的企业进行合作!

When Companies and Charities are in Tune

When talking with graduates about their time at SYB, quite often their first memories are sounds : the sound of the dough turning in the mixer, the sound of a crusty baguette, the sound of the oven singing that the result of a day’s work is ready to be enjoyed.

So it’s maybe not a surprise that our young bakers were so inspired by the “music” theme of the decorated bread competition they took part in during FHC. They worked for three days to create the SYB orchestra made of drums, harps and cellos…much to the amazement of the visitors.

The instruments immediately drew the attention of the little musicians of Jiuqian when they came to SYB baking center. Jiuqian is a non-profit organization that uses music, and in particular singing, as a vehicle to improve the quality of life of migrant kids. On November 24th 20 of them were lucky enough to take part in a SYB pastry class, along with 20 employees of their sponsor GSK. Every corporate participant was paired up with a kid for a day of fun! It was an original and meaningful teambuilding for GSK, an unforgettable outing for Jiuqian’s children and a fundraiser for Shanghai Young Bakers. We are looking forward to partnering with even more charities and social-minded companies!

Last but not least, as Christmas is getting close those staying in Shanghai might want to forget the cold by indulging in French pastries…from the traditional “bûche” to the king cake/“galette des rois”, relish and support SYB!
