After 7-week basic learning, the 11th batch of students have started a new study pattern in October, which is a special training model in SYB (Shanghai Young Bakers) called ‘alternance’ program – students alternate between 2 weeks of learning baking, life skills and English courses in school with 2 weeks of practical internships at hotels.

When the Young Bakers had their first class
Through learning, our students not only could get the chance to learn advanced baking knowledge and techniques but also could feel the REAL work experience from being a baker. Meanwhile, working in real environment would help improve trainees’ communication skills and teamwork spirit.
We believe that this kind of practicing experience can help our students to experience professionalism of top hotels for sure.
Now they’ve started their internships!
Thanks to the strong support and generous donation from our partners, learning environment in SYB has some changes. To do a good job, one must sharpen one’s tools at first.
In the renovated, bright and clean baking center, students will put their brand-new professional baker’s uniforms, feeling more energetic and confident. With using new mixers, oven and other baking equipment, high-quality ingredients, they will continue learning baking skills. Let us wish them well and also look forward to their achievement!
