Marine, 37 years old, coordinator of a training program based in Shanghai, China of French bakery for the youth in difficulties

“The social development in China is somewhat my specialty,” Marine said jokingly, who had passed more than four years in the south of the country where she was responsible for a project of an association. “I always had this wish to go to another country, even when I was a college student studying Sociology. That’s especially the reason why I decided to learn Chinese”, she explained. At Shanghai Young Bakers, a partner association of DCC who provides free training of one year in French bakery and pastry, Marine is in charge of all work that concerns the students. They are from the countryside in China and have either a financial situation or a complex family situation. Her role requires her to take care of all the work related to the teachers, the social educator, the contents of the class, and partnerships with five-star hotels where students have their internships. “There are a lot of operational details to manage, but seeing these young people acquire the know-how is to me the most beautiful reward.”
