My experience in SYB

I had been always looking for a suitable NGO until I found SYB. Why did I choose SYB? The students here can tell you the answers.

The fifth batch of students arrived at school at the end of August, 2012. Because the dormitories hadn’t been used the whole summer, there were a few things to be fixed: some lockers in the male dormitories were broken; the first weeks all girls had to share the only one toilet and shower. The school staff couldn’t help us change that as they were still on vacation. What moved me is that nobody was complaining about this. On the contrary, boys bought tools to fix the problem on their own. Girls arranged the shower time to ensure that it would not affect their classes. SYB’s students are independent, helpful and team-players.

Compared to most of the 90s generation, SYB’s students have a deep understanding of what they want. They have clear goals and in order to achieve their goals, they work hard with heart. After mid-October, they started internship at hotels. Six days’ working and some over-time work make sleep become the most precious thing for students. However, they never come late or leave early. SYB’s students are hard-working, persistent and observe the rules.

For those students who are far from home, they were touched by the mid-autumn festival in 2012. We held a big party and invited many SYB’s graduates to spend the night with us. It was very moving that those graduates changed their schedule to meet our fresh students. We danced and sang. We played games and enjoyed the pizza, cakes and bread made by teachers and graduates. Graduates were very patient to answer questions raised by new students. SYB’s students are out-going, friendly, and care about each other. No matter how busy they are, as long as SYB needs them, they will be back. SYB is their home!

Although the work is very tiring, I’m happy to be doing it. The students deserve my dedication. This is the reason why I chose SYB. They are SYB’s students and this is SYB.
